Parkinsons are members of both the National Council and the National Society. We feel that it is important to be members as it offers the customer some guarantee of quality workmanship.
The association will not only offer you peace of mind that only quality thatchers are members but will also will be a contact for you should there be a dispute between customer and thatcher.
Anybody can set up thatching businesses calling themselves Master Thatchers when their training has been limited and there quality of workmanship is poor. The Association has little power over these companies and cannot help if a roof starts to fail, a poor job has been done or there is a dispute. Unfortunately within the industry there are many substandard workmen and using a member of The Master Thatchers Association will give you a guarantee of standards and who you are employing.
Membership is open to all thatchers, so if a company or thatcher is not affiliated to a thatching association, ask why? It is inexpensive to be a member of the Association but the standard of workmanship is high making, membership meaningful.
